Tattoo Hygiene & Safety Training

A clean line starts with a clean station. This Melbourne course teaches the everyday habits of safe studio practice: how to set up, protect, disinfect and break down a workstation so nothing moves from one surface, tool or client to the next.

— 01 / THE CLEAN CHAIN —

Six habits, one sequence

Each step protects the one after it. Miss one and the chain breaks.

A

Workstation setup

Plan the station before anything is opened. You’ll learn to separate clean and used zones, place tools in a sensible order and keep only what the session needs within reach.

Barrier protection

Barrier film, bags and covers go on anything your gloved hands will touch, such as the machine, cord, bottles and lamp. We cover how to apply them neatly and when to change gloves.

Surface disinfection

Cleaning and disinfecting are two separate steps. You’ll practise both before and after every session, following the product instructions for contact time.

Single-use items

Needle cartridges, ink caps, gloves and razors are opened for one client and then thrown away. You’ll learn safe handling and sharps disposal as part of your routine.

Preventing cross-contamination

Most mistakes happen mid-session: reaching into a drawer with a used glove, or touching a phone. We train the small pauses that keep used and clean items apart.

Client aftercare communication

Safety continues after the client leaves. You’ll practise giving clear, calm aftercare instructions and knowing when to tell a client to see a health professional.

Rules for tattooing premises and practice are set by your local council and Victorian health authorities, and they can change. Before you tattoo anyone, check the current requirements for your area directly with them. This course builds practical habits. It doesn’t replace any registration or approval they may require.

Is hygiene covered in the other courses too?

Clean studio practice runs through all our training, including the Fine Line Tattoo Course. This course gives the subject its own dedicated focus and depth.

Will this course let me tattoo legally in Victoria?

Legal requirements depend on your council and Victorian regulations. Check with them directly. The course prepares your practice, but it doesn’t grant a licence.

Do I need any tattoo experience first?

No. Safe setup is worth learning before you ever pick up a machine. If you’re unsure where to begin, contact us and we’ll talk it through.
