— 03 / ADVANCED —
For artists who already tattoo and want a tighter hand. This Melbourne course focuses on the last fraction of precision: lines that hold the same weight from start to finish, detail that reads clearly at small scale, and the habits that stop faults before they reach skin.
— WHO IT SUITS —
Advanced Fine Line Training is written for people who are already tattooing and want to move from competent to exact. You might have good line work on larger pieces, but find it wavers when the design shrinks. You might see blowouts or uneven healing in fine script. Or you might just want a trainer’s eye on habits you’ve built alone.
If you’re newer to the machine, the Beginner Fine Line Tattoo Course or the complete Fine Line Tattoo Course is the better first step. Not sure where you sit? Tell us about your current work through the enquiry page and we’ll talk through the right starting point.
— 03 / WHAT IS REFINED —
Each area is worked as a drill first, then applied to real fine line designs.
LINE CONSISTENCY
Hand speed, depth and stretch working together, so a line doesn’t thicken on entry or fade on exit.
FINE DETAIL
Tight curves, small lettering and delicate botanical work, with enough space kept between lines to allow for healing.
MICRO-SCALE COMPOSITION
Knowing what to simplify when a design shrinks, and how placement on the body changes what will hold.
LINE FAULTS
Shaky starts, wobbles, doubled lines and blowouts traced back to the hand, the setup or the skin, then corrected.
— STRUCTURE & FORMAT —
Practical, in-person training in Melbourne, shaped around the work you already do.
STEP I
We start with your current work and your setup, looking for where precision slips and why.
STEP II
Focused exercises for consistency, tight curves and small-scale detail, with needle and machine choices adjusted to suit.
STEP III
Drills move into complete fine line designs, with composition and placement treated as part of the technique.
TRAINER APPROACH
Trainers watch the hand as well as the result, so corrections deal with the cause rather than the symptom. Read more about our trainers and teaching philosophy.
